Rendezvous 2024 Travel Planning from US to Canada
2024 Rendezvous - May 19 to 23, 2024.
The meet will be held in Sooke, BC which is located about 30 miles west of Victoria on Vancouver Island, Canada. Rendezvous participants traveling from Washington, Oregon or California may use the Black Ball Ferry to cross from Port Angeles WA to Victoria BC on Vancouver Island or use the BC Ferries from Tsawwassen B.C. (well signed on Hwy I-5 South of the border, Hwy 99 North of the border)”.
Black Ball Ferry line operates the M.V. Coho passenger and vehicle ferry linking Victoria BC on Vancouver Island with Port Angeles WA on the Olympic Peninsula, USA. The 90-minute, 22.6-mile trip crosses the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The ship’s amenities include a cafeteria, gift and duty-free shops. As well as pet friendly areas. Other onboard features include Wi-Fi throughout the crossing and in the ferry terminals.
Reservations for vehicle transport (drive on, off) are available and strongly recommended. The Blackball Ferry operates on established schedules. Currently, the ferry departs Port Angeles for a round-trip passage three times each day. The 2023 schedule will be replaced by a Spring 2024 schedule to be published during the last week of December. 2023. Reservations for May will not be accepted prior to the release of the 2024 schedule.

Vehicle space aboard the MV Coho may be reserved on-line ($11,00 or by phone $26.00 non-refundable fee). Passage fees include Vehicle and Driver, $73.00, Passenger, $22.25, respectively. Return passage fees from Victoria, BC to Port Angeles, WA are the same or about $106.25 each way.
Drive-on passengers - Port Angeles Departure
Arrive no later than 60 minutes before departure time. Vehicle reservations not claimed by 30 minutes before departure are forfeited. Vehicles must check-in at the drive-up ticket window located on the right-hand side of the main terminal building. Have your form of payment and identification for all passengers ready. A dockhand will direct you to a lane number for loading. Loading begins between 20-30 minutes prior to departure, with reserved vehicles loading prior to non-reserved.

When traveling between the United States and Canada by water, you must present one of the following valid documents-
Valid Passport, U.S. Passport Card, c) Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Trusted Traveler Card (NEXUS), or Enhanced Driver's License from one of the following: Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, or Washington State.

BC Ferries travel from Tsawwassen BC to Vancouver Island. The ferry terminal is easily reachable from the I5/HWY99 border crossing and is well signed on Hwy 99. It is a 30 minute, 40km / 25mile drive.

The Vancouver ABFM is scheduled for Saturday May 18th at Vancouver’s VanDusen Gardens. This very popular event is well attended by participants from south of the border.
This can be a combined event ABFM - Rendezvous. If you do attend the ABFM, and plan on attending Rendezvous, it makes sense to travel to Vancouver Island via BC Ferry’s from Tsawwassen. An overnight stay in the Vancouver area would be recommended with travel to Vancouver Island being made on Sunday May 19th.
BC Ferries have been experiencing staff shortages with resulting interruptions in sailings. Reservations are very strongly advised well ahead of your planned sailing date.
