Mike Chandler and his 1966 BJ8

I'm proud to write that I've owned my present Healey for a long time and have driven it on many long distance trips over the years. After owning a Colorado Red 1961 BT7 for a couple of years, I purchased my present '66 BJ8 in March of 1970 from a used car dealer in Vancouver, B.C. for the now unbelievable price of $2700! The car dealer, Belmont Motors at Broadway and Fraser, is now long gone but my Healey continues to provide excellent service after so many years.
At the time of purchase, the car was in very good condition and continues to be soto this day - despite the fact that it has never been restored. However, it has been well maintained over the years and this included 2 repaints.
As built be BMC and as purchased by myself the car was all Healey Blue but both repaints have have been Blue over White.
Long distance tours with the Healey are too numerous to list but let it suffice to say that it has been across Canada twice and through most of the lower 48 states over the years.
My Healey is an original Vancouver car, having been shipped from Britain on Valentines Day 1966 to an unnamed dealer in the city. Perhaps that's why I proposed to my wife in the car.
